Base Mechanics: Power + Pals + Production Lines

Palworld base gameplay has three pillars: Power, Pal assignment, and production line planning. Weakness in any one halves your efficiency.

Power determines whether you can run advanced structures (like the Electric Assembly Line). Pal assignment determines whether you can max out production (each work type needs Pals with the right Work Suitability). Production line planning determines whether input and output close the loop (raw → processed → finished).

Power Calculation: Figure It Out in 1 Minute

Power is the most common beginner trap. A base needs Power generation (+) ≥ Power consumption (-) for structures to operate. There are 4 power sources:

  • Electrical Generator (Lv 18): 20 power, needs fuel
  • Advanced Generator (Lv 30): 40 power
  • Large Solar Panel (Lv 40): 150 power, daytime only
  • Nuclear Reactor (Lv 50): 1000 power, needs Uranium

Core Base Layout: 3-Zone Separation

Split your base into 3 independent zones:

1. Industrial Production Zone

Group the Electric Assembly Line, Pal Gear Workbench, and Refining Forge together. This zone needs full power + 3 Industrial Pals (we recommend Caprity line at Industrial 3).

2. Agriculture Zone

Berry Plantation + Ranch + Planting area. This zone needs Planting / Watering / Gathering Pals (recommend Petallia + Lifmunk).

3. Housing and Defense Zone

Player Bed + Pal Bed + Torch / Electric Fence. This zone uses Handiwork Pals (transporting types like Cattiva).

Pal Assignment: 1 Pal per Work Type Is Enough

A common beginner mistake: assigning 1 Pal to 3 work types, which makes every task slow.

The right way: 1 dedicated Pal per work type. Lifmunk only chops wood, Cattiva only transports, Foxparks only lights fires. Switching a Pal between work types resets its efficiency - not worth it.

Want to know which Pal suits which work type? Check the Work Suitability field on every Paldex page.

Production Lines: Raw to Processed to Finished

The classic 3-stage production line:

  1. Raw gathering: Berry bushes → Berry Plantation (auto)
  2. Processing: Berry → Berry Jam (Cooking Pot) → food
  3. Output: food → feeds Pals → Pals have high SAN → max work efficiency

Recommended priority production lines: Wood → Lumber → Building materials (essential for building), Iron Ore → Ingot → Weapons (essential for combat), Berry → Food (keeps Pal SAN high).

Multi-Base Strategy: 3 Locations for Full Coverage

Main base + Sakurajima base + Feybreak base - each with its own role:

  • Main Base (starter island center): production + storage, Caprity line concentrated here
  • Sakurajima Base: mining + metal ingot, focused on Sakurajima bosses
  • Feybreak Base: advanced materials, prep for Xenolord

Bases are connected by Global Palbox fast travel. Items and Pals teleport between bases instantly.
